About the department
The Department of History offers honours and general courses covering ancient, medieval and modern history, with attention to Indian and world history and to historical method. The department encourages the careful reading of sources and an understanding of change over time.
Vision
To develop historical understanding and a critical sense of evidence and interpretation.
Mission
To teach history across periods and regions, to train students in the use of sources, and to relate the past to present concerns.

BA History Major
Eligibility: 10+2 passed and as per Tripura University rules
Under Graduate Major in History
The Under Graduate Major in History is a four-year programme (1+1+1+1) offered under the National Education Policy 2020, with multiple entry and exit options. Alongside the major discipline, students take minor, multidisciplinary, skill-enhancement and value-added courses as prescribed by the affiliating university, building a strong foundation in History for higher study and employment.
Eligibility: Passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination in any stream from a recognised council.
