About the department
The Department of English offers honours and general courses covering British, Indian and world literature along with literary criticism, linguistics and communicative English. The department promotes critical reading, clear writing and confident communication.
Vision
To cultivate critical reading, clear expression and an informed appreciation of literature across cultures.
Mission
To teach literature in context, to strengthen written and spoken communication, and to encourage independent critical thought.
Courses offered
Under Graduate Major in English
The Under Graduate Major in English is a four-year programme (1+1+1+1) offered under the National Education Policy 2020, with multiple entry and exit options. Alongside the major discipline, students take minor, multidisciplinary, skill-enhancement and value-added courses as prescribed by the affiliating university, building a strong foundation in English for higher study and employment.
Eligibility: Passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) examination in any stream from a recognised council.
